Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, the thrill ride that takes guests face-to-face with the legendary Yeti, will no longer have a single rider offer.
Expedition Everest Single Rider Line Permanently Closing
Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain is located in the Asia section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
Disney says that due to a successful test of a new loading process earlier this year, which resulted in lower average wait times, the single rider line will no longer be available beginning Monday, September 21. The attraction’s queue was also updated around that time with screens displaying a brand-new safety video.
The test showed that as the efficiency of the standby line increased, the single rider line no longer provided the experience guests have come to expect from single rider lines.
Disney also stated that single rider lines continue to be a useful tool at select attractions to help Cast Members fill remaining seats in ride vehicles that aren’t occupied by guests utilizing standby lines or Lightning Lane entrances.
We’ve been reporting that the Expedition Everest single rider sign, located on an exterior corner of the Serka Zong Bazaar gift shop, has been intermittently appearing. The sign was first removed in late July, and then returned a few days later, though with a note that it was “not available.” At the time, Cast Members told us that the dedicated single rider queue would be officially closing in the near future.
Beginning September 21, single rider signage at Expedition Everest will be permanently removed, and the change will be reflected online.
Other attractions that offer a single rider line are:
- Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (EPCOT)
- Test Track (EPCOT)
The “Single Rider Offered” bullet point under Accessibility & Other Information has already been removed on the attraction webpage for Expedition Everest.
There are no plans to remove the single rider offer from any other attraction at Walt Disney World at this time.
In an announcement at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum announced that Disney will be fixing the Yeti.
