Piping, trench railings, and landscaping have been added to the construction site where the Coco boat ride will be located at Disneyland Resort.
‘Coco’ Construction Update
The ride is under construction on the west side of Disney California Adventure, between IncrediCoaster and Disneyland Drive.
In the photo seen on the left above, a new large dirt pile spanning across the area has been added, and more landscaping has been planted along Disneyland Drive. In our last update, we noticed crew members planting trees, joining smaller plants to help block the scrim fencing from view.
Meanwhile, a large pile of different-sized gray and white pipes, seen in the photo on the right above, has also been placed between the green gates closest to Disneyland Dr.
Also, more yellow railings were installed along a trench on the upper left side of the right photo. Take a closer look at the pipes and railings below.
‘Coco’ Ride Details
Though Disney hasn’t announced the name or opening timeframe of the ride, they did share story details at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
Rather than simply retelling the events of Coco, the attraction will continue Miguel Rivera’s story approximately one year after the film. Miguel can now openly pursue music following the Rivera family’s reconciliation with its musical past and the restoration of Héctor’s place in the family’s history.
The attraction’s placement after the film also allows Héctor to be publicly celebrated as the musician he was before Ernesto de la Cruz stole his songs and took credit for his work. Imagineers are working closely with Pixar Animation Studios to incorporate references to both the original film and the upcoming Coco 2.
