Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has a new roadway entrance. The actual entrance gate is in the same spot but how you get there is different.
New Grand Floridian Entrance
The new entrance’s opening on September 10 follows last month’s opening of the new Floridian Way with two roundabouts.
Previously, guests would reach the Grand Floridian entrance via the southern roundabout. Now, they must go to the northern roundabout and take the east exit. The only initial indication that guests should take this exit is a “Grand Floridian Turn Right” sign visible before they actually enter the roundabout.
The exit itself still has a “Service & Authorized Vehicles Only” sign.
If you miss the turn and continue through the roundabout, you’ll then see a flashing LED sign pointing to the correct turn.
Then, guests pass the overflow dining/Cast Member parking lot. They reach a traffic light at the old Floridian Way and turn right, as indicated by another LED sign.
Cars then proceed south down the old Floridian Way to the resort entrance. Note only the southbound lane is open to cars while the northbound lane is to ferry guests to and from the overflow dining lot.
The turn for that dining lot is marked with an A-frame sign.
Our screenshots of Google Maps above show how cars enter when arriving from the north (purple) and from the south (pink). Most guests will be traveling from the south.
When exiting, as shown above, guests have to go through that same traffic light and pass through the northern roundabout. They do not exit at the entrance gate, marked with an x in our image above.
When guests exit the dining lot, they have to essentially make a full loop from near the southern roundabout, up to the northern roundabout, and back down to the rest of Walt Disney World property.
The former exit at the southern roundabout is now blocked by concrete barriers.
