Matt Murdock’s latest television series is approaching its final chapter, as the upcoming third season of Daredevil: Born Again will be the Disney+ series’ last.
Daredevil: Born Again to End After Three Seasons
Production on the third season of Daredevil: Born Again wrapped earlier this year, and the episodes are now in post-production. The final season is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2027, though an exact release date has not been announced. Deadline reports that the show’s cast members were informed on September 21 that Season 3 would be the final season.
Co-creator and showrunner Dario Scardapane has exited the series during post-production. The report did not identify anyone who might succeed him.
Scardapane joined Daredevil: Born Again during its significant creative overhaul in 2023. The series was originally being developed as an 18-episode production under head writers Matt Corman and Chris Ord. After the Hollywood labor strikes paused filming, Marvel reviewed the completed material and changed the show’s creative direction.
Scardapane, who previously worked as a writer and executive producer on Netflix’s The Punisher, was brought aboard as showrunner. Directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead also joined the production, and the reworked series leaned more heavily into the characters, continuity, and tone of Netflix’s Daredevil.
Daredevil’s Disney+ Run
Daredevil: Born Again stars Charlie Cox as blind attorney and masked vigilante Matt Murdock alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, better known as Kingpin.
Cox originally debuted as the character in Netflix’s Daredevil, which ran for three seasons from 2015 through 2018. That series helped launch Netflix’s interconnected group of Marvel shows, which also included Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders.
Disney+ revived the property with Daredevil: Born Again in 2025. The series brought back several performers from the Netflix production, including D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, a.k.a. the Punisher.
The first season of Daredevil: Born Again drew 7.5 million worldwide viewers during its first five days, making it Disney+’s most-watched series premiere of 2025. According to Luminate data cited by Deadline, U.S. viewership declined by approximately 50% for Season 2.
The conclusion represents a shift from Marvel’s earlier plans for the show. Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum previously discussed releasing new seasons annually, and Season 3 was ordered before the second season even premiered.
