We now have a more specific timeline for the major room refurbishment at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Previously, Disney only announced the refurbishment would begin in the summer of 2027.

Art of Animation Room Refurbishment

The refurbishment will begin in mid-June 2027 and last through October 2028. The work will happen in phases, with one themed area being refurbished at a time.

Guests may see or hear maintenance work in the area during daytime hours, and alternate paths of travel may be in place until work is complete.

We know the refurbishment will include changes to the family suites, as well as The Little Mermaid guest rooms. While maintaining their animation quality, the rooms will receive pull-down Murphy beds providing a second bed or a table, depending on what the guests need at the time.

Disney’s Art of Animation has not had a refurbishment of this magnitude since it first opened in 2012. While the resort has had soft-goods refurbishments over the years, such as replacing carpet in the rooms with laminate from 2019 to 2021 or the lobby floor replacement, there haven’t been any other major projects.
