Dennis Haskins, who portrayed Principal Richard Belding on Saved by the Bell, has died at age 75.

Haskins’ agent, Jay Schachter, confirmed his death to USA TODAY, stating, “It’s a tragic loss. Everyone loved Mr. Belding and those of us who got to know Dennis, loved him even more. He was a great person, and he loved, I mean absolutely loved his fans.”

A cause of death has not been announced.

Saved by the Bell began as Good Morning, Miss Bliss, which aired on Disney Channel from 1988 to 1989. Only one season was produced before it was retooled into Saved by the Bell (1989 – 1993) for NBC, focusing on the students rather than the teacher.

Haskins appeared in both iterations of the show and returned for Saved by the Bell: The New Class (1993 – 2000) and film spinoffs. He was known for the catchphrase, “Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here?”

Before Saved by the Bell, Haskins appeared as several different characters across episodes of The Dukes of Hazzard (1979 – 1985), including in the pilot. He was Mr. Kohls in Disney’s Max Keeble’s Big Move (2001). He appeared as a snake oil salesman in A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014). He also had roles in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Victorious, Mad Men, How I Met Your Mother, and New Girl.

Haskins was also a singer, releasing his first album “Karaoke with Your Favorite Principal Dennis” in 2009. Over the years, he appeared in a few music videos that referenced Saved by the Bell, including for Khalid’s song “Young Dumb & Broke.”
