Disney Cruise Line is phasing out paper cups in favor of reusable plastic ones at self-serve drink stations by the pools, as well as replacing the clear plastic cups of Cabanas. So far, we know the reusable cups are available on the Disney Fantasy, but they will likely roll out fleet-wide.
Reusable Cups at Poolside Stations
New cups are available at poolside self-serve soda fountains. They can be found on trays and carts.
A nearby sign states: “Reusable Cups – Do Not Dispose – Thank You.”
There is a bin for depositing the cups with its own sign: “Deposit Reusable Cups Here – Thank You.”
The double-walled cups are plain white. They can be used for both hot and cold drinks. Lids are available for hot drinks.
The paper cups had the same design as Disney Parks cups, featuring colorful icons representing different classic attractions, as well as the Coca-Cola and Disney Parks logos.
It’s possible Disney could introduce more interesting designs to the reusable cups later on.
There are pros and cons to reusable cups over paper cups. They lead to less trash, but require more dishwashing. We read some reports on social media that they weren’t being washed properly and had stains, as well as sightings of guests putting a used cup back with the clean ones. These also don’t seem to stack on top of each other, so they take up more space at the drink stations. That said, they probably take up less space on the ship overall than the paper cups.
New Cups in Cabanas
Meanwhile, the Cabanas buffet has new white reusable cups — but these are a different shape. Unlike the white cups by the pools, these are stackable. They replace the large transparent faux glass cups that featured hidden Mickeys and were also reusable.
However, small hidden Mickey cups are still available at juice stations, alongside ceramic coffee mugs.
Cabanas, as well as the Marceline Market buffet on other ships, have always offered reusable cups and are attended more closely by Cast Members than the poolside stations. We’re not sure why the transparent cups are being replaced, though.
