Walt Disney World’s Facility Asset Management team filed a new construction permit for the former Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser building.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Permit

Disney has hired CEC General Contractors, Inc. for “General Construction” at 201 S Studio Dr, the address for the shuttered hotel. The permit expires on 9/28/2027.

The immersive cruise-style Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel opened on March 1, 2022. It was met with mixed reviews, most agreeing it was overpriced. Reports indicated Galactic Starcruiser never made a profit and had lower occupancy rates than expected. It closed permanently on September 30, 2023.

Disney announced in January 2025 that the hotel would be turned into offices. Since then, we’ve seen several permits filed by FAM and Walt Disney Imagineering. In August, FAM extended a permit contracting Balfour Beatty.
