Two permits were filed by Walt Disney World for Tangaroa Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. The space is not being used for guests at the moment.

Permits Filed for Tangaroa Terrace

The first permit was filed on September 8, 2026, for 1540 Seven Seas Dr.—the location of Tangaroa Terrace. The general description of the improvements listed on the permit is for ‘general conditions.’ The contractor named for the improvements is Keenan Hopkins Schmidt Ans Stowell (KHS&S).

KHS&S are known for themed projects and have worked on other Disney projects such as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park and the transformation of Disney Springs in Walt Disney World.

The second permit was filed on September 10, 2026, and listed the same reason for improvements. The contractor named on the second permit is New Horizon Construction Services.

New Horizon Construction Services has been a part of Disney projects such as the refurbishment of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and many other resort projects.

Both permits don’t expire until December 31, 2027. This is longer than the usual one-year expiration, so it could indicate more in-depth work will take place.

Tangaroa Terrace stands by the Great Ceremonial Hall of Disney’s Polynesian Resort and was formerly a guest space used as a buffet restaurant and later the Neverland Club for kids. Currently, it’s being used as a Cast Member break area.

Do you think we will see Tangaroa Terrace used as a guest space again, or do you think Disney is making improvements to the Cast Member break area? Let us know on social media.
