Disney’s Hollywood Studios tested fireworks last night from a previously abandoned launch site.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Fireworks Test
We learned of a fireworks test earlier this week thanks to notices posted at EPCOT resorts. We assumed the test would be at EPCOT but it ended up being at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Attractions 360° on X shared the following video of fireworks going off every few minutes at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The launches seem to be coming from a large site off World Drive, which was constructed in 2016 for Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. The show ceased performances in 2020 and the launch site hasn’t been used since.
Testing launches from this site probably means Disney is planning to utilize it for upcoming fireworks performances.
The regular nighttime spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is Fantasmic!, performed in its own theater, but this launch site could be used for Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! during Disney Jollywood Nights. The holiday show has performed the last few years without a significant portion of fireworks that would be launched from the World Drive site. Similarly, the test could be for the park’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks.
It could also be for a fireworks show during an upcoming private park buyout.
Or possibly for a brand-new nighttime spectacular. That said, Disney hasn’t made any announcements about a new show.
