Olivia’s Cafe Family Photos Relocated

The Disney Vacation Club Member photos that once covered the walls of Olivia’s Cafe have been relocated to a collection of albums at Disney’s Old Key West Resort.

Earlier this year, we reported that the longtime collection of Member vacation photos would be removed from Olivia’s Cafe during routine maintenance at the restaurant.

As of September, that removal effort is complete, and all Member photos are now gone from the space. The walls that previously displayed the framed family pictures instead feature general nautical and Florida Keys-inspired decorations, including a ship’s wheel, anchors, fish, coastal signs, and an Olivia’s Cafe sign identifying Olivia Farnsworth as the restaurant’s proprietor.

Fortunately, the photos themselves have not disappeared from the resort. They were instead transfered into a series of “Family Album: Meet Our Members!” photo albums that guests can browse inside the nearby Conch Flats Community Hall.

Sixteen albums are visible on and around a small bookshelf flanked by two wooden chairs in the communal space. The albums preserve the Disney Vacation Club Member memories that had been displayed on the walls of Olivia’s Cafe since Disney’s Old Key West Resort opened.

A framed flyer beside the albums invites Disney Vacation Club Members who call Old Key West “home” to submit additional memories for possible inclusion in the resort’s photo albums. Scanning the flyer’s QR code directs Members to a Disney Vacation Club webpage for Old Key West, where users can still “Share Your Member Memories” via an online process.

Interested Members must email their photo to [email protected]. They must also include a signed release form for every person pictured in the submitted photograph. Disney describes the submissions as being considered for possible inclusion, so sending a photo does not guarantee that it will be added to the albums.

Disney previously said some of the original photographs had aged or begun to fade; thus, moving the collection into albums was at least in-part an effort to preserve the memories while keeping them accessible for Members and guests to enjoy.

While we are happy to see the old Member photos maintained and available for guests to browse in any capacity, there’s no denying that the original wall display gave Old Key West a kind of authenticity, charm, and—for many families over the years—a true sense of “home” that few other resorts can match.
