Entrance Pillars Completed at Tropical Americas in Disney's Animal Kingdom

Both entrances to Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom are nearing completion while Casita continues to take shape.

Tropical Americas Construction

At the entrance closest to Discovery Island, the archway is still in progress but now appears to have a layer of stucco. Crews started installing sheathing on the archway’s steel frame this month and it was completely covered a week ago.

It’s currently a yellow color, with black sections at the bases. Crew members on scaffolding to the left give a good sense of scale.

Here’s concept art of the archway, which will ultimately be aged and surrounded by plants. This will be the land’s main entrance from Discovery Island.

Crews have painted the roof of the nearby food kiosk, which was formerly DinoLand’s Trilo-Bites. The corrugated paneling is now brown, giving it a more wood-like look than before.

A detailed diorama features a miniature park with trees, a clock tower, buildings, and figurines. An archway serves as an entrance to what appears to be the idyllic village of Pueblo Esperanza, and the scene is surrounded by dense foliage.

The kiosk appears in the Tropical Americas model, though with little theming. We don’t know what it will be renamed or serve.

During our Thursday visit, crews were installing wood paneling on top of El Carrusel de los Animalitos, around its spire. The carousel will feature hand-carved wooden animals inspired by Disney characters.

According to concept art, string lights will connect to the carousel’s spire, spreading out across the walkways.

Entrance Pillars Complete

The land’s second entrance, near the Theater in the Wild, consists of themed stone pillars. Scaffolding has come down from the pillars, revealing their finished looks with mossy details. Along with stone walls further into the land, these resemble the remains of an old ruin.

The pillar on the left has a “Tropical Americas” plaque — the first visible sign for the land.

Crews are adding specially shaped steel to the framework for Casita from Encanto. As we saw in an aerial update, the steel frame is resembling Casita more and more each day. A round element delineates the future front door. Slanted steel provides the shape for a future rooftop.

People walk towards a vibrant, tropical house with colorful flowers and lush greenery in a picturesque setting, reminiscent of an enchanting attraction you might find at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Though Casita is the façade for the Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto ride, guests will actually enter through the side and not through the house’s front door.
