Scaffolding continues to mark significant sections of the exterior façade and several room balconies along the side of Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort Refurbishment

From what we can tell, construction progress spans from the building’s foundation up to the lowermost section of guest rooms.

A large scaffolding structure stands near the southern end of the resort’s A-frame tower, closest to the Convention Center. The metalwork fills several of the open architectural bays beneath the guestroom balconies and rises about as high as the lowest balcony level.

Tan tarps now cover room windows, perhaps signifying that interior renovation work has also begun.

Multiple elevated platforms provide access to the exterior columns and recessed walls. A similar scaffolding approach was used on the opposite side of the building in recent months.

On ground level, green construction walls surround the staircase entrance to the Contemporary Convention Center. Barriers extend beneath the covered walkway and across a portion of the tiled plaza area.

There are no other signs of further renovations or construction around the building, at least none visible to regular guests.

We have been tracking this particular area at the Contemporary Resort for many months, with our last report in August indicating the relocation of the scaffolding pictured above to its current placement.

Construction at Contemporary Resort began in September 2024. Originally scheduled for completion in September 2025, the refurbishment timeline was updated by Disney to last through July 2026. The timeline was later changed to the end of 2027.
