HamiKuma, the Halloween Horror Nights mascot from Universal Studios Japan, has now arrived as Pink and brown HamiKuma popcorn buckets at Universal Studios Japan.
HamiKuma Popcorn Buckets
The pink HamiKuma popcorn bucket features the zombie teddy bear with blue and green stitches on the right side, with his mint-swirl eye popping out. He also has rainbow teeth with a few oozing down his chin.
On his body, HamiKuma is wearing a rainbow lollipop necklace, along with a few melted lollipops attached to his fur. Blue and green stitches are also seen going across his stomach.
Meanwhile, the brown HamiKuma popcorn bucket is a bit different. He has a plaid collar along with a matching lanyard attached to his ears. He also has a slew of colorful candy coming out of his stomach.
Both popcorn buckets also have the ability to talk.
According to his backstory, HamiKuma was a sideshow act in a traveling circus, but his fellow performers became jealous of his popularity. They also believed the rumor that he wasn’t a real bear, so they slashed open his belly to expose who or what might be inside. To cover their tracks, they burned down the big top, killing HamiKuma.
In the afterlife, the parasitic demon Death Bringer worked his way into HamiKuma’s belly, and they returned to the surface. Though HamiKuma gained eternal life, his soul was left behind.
Iterations of HamiKuma include HamiKuma Soul, the personification of his soul trapped in the afterlife; HamiKuma Punk, representing the bear’s anger and resentment; and HamiKuma Candy, the manifestation of HamiKuma’s greed.
The zombified bear made his U.S. debut last year. Though he was originally supposed to appear at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort, he ultimately only had a meet and greet at Hollywood. He also appeared at Universal Horror Unleashed.
