Disney-Pixar’s Cars celebrated its 20th anniversary on September 3, and if you’re at Walt Disney World or Disney’s California Adventure this month, race on over to these attractions in honor of Lightning McQueen’s big day.
Disney’s California Adventure
Cars Land
Disney’s California Adventure has been home to Cars Land for 14 years, immersing guests into the world of Radiator Springs the moment you walk in. All three attractions – Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, and fan-favorite Radiator Springs Racers – are must-rides for any Cars fan.
Cars Land also features a merch shop, quick-service restaurant Flo’s V8 Cafe, and notable, larger-than-life scenery from the movie, like Cozy Cone Motel and Radiator Springs Courthouse.
Lightning and Mater also do meet and greets, and if you’re lucky, they might just cruise past you through the land.
LED versions of Lightning and Mack were previously featured in Disneyland’s Paint the Night parade. While the parade ended its latest run on August 20, find out when we think we’ll see it again.
Walt Disney World
Art of Animation
WDW’s newest of all the value resorts, Art of Animation immerses guests into the colorful and lively worlds of four different animated movies, and one section is dedicated to Cars.
Whether you book a Cars Family Suite or simply want to say hi to your favorite vehicles, this section of the resort is always open for guests’ enjoyment and has been the way WDW currently brings Radiator Springs to life.
Here, you’ll find life-size statues of Lightning, Sally, Mater, Doc Hudson, Ramone, Flo, Fillmore, Luigi, and Guido, along with the Cozy Cone Pool and orange cone-shaped cabanas (for resort guests only).
Tomorrowland Speedway
No, it’s not Cars-themed like Radiator Springs Racers, but if you’re looking to race like Lightning, take a ride on Tomorrowland Speedway in Magic Kingdom.
Sci-fi Dine-In Theater
Ka-chow down on dinner while sitting in a car-shaped booth at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater in Hollywood Studios. Again, not Cars-themed, but you’ll certainly feel like Sally or Doc Hudson as you dine!
Coming Soon: Piston Peak National Park
While it won’t be open in time for Cars’ 20th anniversary, Cars fans can look forward to an all-new land coming to Magic Kingdom within the next couple of years.
Announced at this year’s D23, Piston Peak National Park will be an expansion of Frontierland and will include two Cars-themed rides: Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along and Ridge Run Rally.
