Interactive PhotoPass Experience Debuts at Disney Springs with 'Frozen' and 'Toy Story' Backgrounds

The green screen side of the Disney PhotoPass Studio at Disney Springs has been updated with a new interactive experience. It features Frozen and Toy Story backgrounds

New PhotoPass Experience at Disney Springs

The new experience was first announced back in August. Disney PhotoPass Studio is located in Disney Springs, attached to the Marketplace Co-op building. The seasonal side of the studio currently features a Mickey’s Pumpkin Patch set for this year’s Halloween season.

A video inside of the studio informs guests of what they can expect to experience. First, enter the photographer’s mystical workshop where a magical door awaits your wish. Then, you pick your story medallion. The options are currently themed to Toy Story and Frozen, but the video also showed a Maleficent-themed medallion, so that theme may be coming to the studio later.

The workshop itself is decorated with bookshelves overflowing with books, plants, and photography equipment. Photographs of different Disney environments are clipped to strings hanging on the wall.

A large book with an ornate cover has been placed on top of one of the wood cabinets. The medallions for the Toy Story and Frozen themes are placed in a case next to the book. When you place one of the medallions in the open spot on the cover, the book’s gem glows blue and the room lights up.

The screen changes from showing an ornate door that matches the design of the book to opening the door into the land corresponding with the medallion.

For the Toy Story theme, you can take your photo in Andy’s room, Bonnie’s room, and a cloud wallpaper background. Characters like Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Forky, and Lennie the Binoculars can be seen.

And for the Frozen theme, the backgrounds change from Arendelle Castle to Elsa’s ice palace. Characters like Olaf and the Snowgies can be spotted.

The experience itself is free of charge to participate in, but you will need to pay if you want to download or print the photos.
