Voice actor Jim Cummings has responded to reports that he said Disney hopes they get “everything they deserve” after he was not cast in the upcoming Darkwing Duck reboot.

Cummings wrote in a Facebook post:
While I was being muted, clipped and misquoted about Disney “getting what they deserve”… I was actually busy giving Disney exactly what they deserve — a whole lot of love. ❤️
Thank you, Disney Dream, for a wonderful Scandinavian adventure this past week. 🛳️✨
Maybe we could all be a little less quick to judge, a little less eager to dredge up false stories, and keep a little more joy in our hearts. ❤️
He shared a video recap of the cruise, during which he performed several of his famous character voices.
The quote (or misquote) Cummings referred to came from Collider‘s report about Cummings not reprising his role as Drake Mallard, a.k.a. Darkwing Duck:
I did a pilot for it several years ago, to see the viability of it coming back, and everybody went nuts. And they are bringing it back, and they’re hiring somebody else to do Terry McGovern’s role of Launchpad, and they’re hiring somebody else to be Darkwing Duck. I hope they get…everything they deserve. Crazy, I don’t know what to tell you.
The original Darkwing Duck ran from 1991 to 1992 with 91 episodes. The reboot was announced in 2020 with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee of Point Grey Pictures reportedly producing the Disney+ project. However, very few updates have been made regarding the reboot.
Cummings seemed to be part of the project at first; he told Screen Rant earlier this year: “We’re all still alive and kicking. I guess Seth Rogen, my old buddy, he’s going to be one of the prime movers, shakers. So stay tuned.”
Cummings is also known for voicing Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Ray in The Princess and the Frog, and more.
He has been in the news recently after being snubbed for the Disney Legend honor. Cummings shared many fan posts on his Instagram Story regarding Disney not recognizing him. In a caption, he wrote: “40 years. 1500 characters. The voice of generations. No comment.”
