As shared by Deadline, author Rick Riordan is returning to develop a new live-action series for Disney+. He has previously worked with Disney on the Percy Jackson and the Olympians live-action series.

‘Kane Chronicles’ Series in Development for Disney+

A live-action series adaptation of The Kane Chronicles is currently in development at Disney+. Riordan will create the series with Angela Robinson (How to Get Away with Murder, True Blood, The L Word).

The Kane Chronicles, written by American author Rick Riordan, is a trilogy of adventure novels based on Egyptian mythology and set in the same universe as his other works, Percy Jackson and the Olympians (Greek mythology) and Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard (Norse mythology). The trilogy – The Red Pyramid, The Throne of Fire, and The Serpent’s Shadow – follows the adventures of siblings Carter and Sadie Kane, both powerful magicians and descendants of two pharaohs, Narmer and Ramses the Great.

The series will be produced by 20th Television. Executive producers include Rick Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Angela Robinson, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, and Jeremy Bell.

The logline for the Disney+ series is: “When their father unleashes the god of chaos and vanishes, the estranged Kane siblings must master their inherited Egyptian magic, forge unlikely alliances, and rescue their father before warring gods can wreak havoc on our modern world.”

Season three of Riordan’s other Disney+ series, Percy Jackson, will premiere on Disney+ on November 20, 2026. The season is based on The Titan’s Curse, the third book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.
