The Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree restaurant in Bayou Country at Disneyland has been undergoing exterior refurbishment for the past few months. Much of the landscape has now been removed to access the ground below.
Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree Refurbishment
Jagged wood construction walls have been erected next to the walkway to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for the past few months. As a sign on the wall notes, Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree is still open during the exterior refurbishment.
Walking up the nearby staircase allowed us to get a closer look at the refurbishment work that is currently happening. A small section of rebar has been installed underneath the bear statue, likely in anticipation for concrete to be poured later. Temporary wooden structures and lots of sandbags line the construction walls. Yellow caution tape surrounds a light pole, and “Open Hole” has been spray painted on plywood boards below, suggesting that work is happening underground.
Much of the walkway, grass, and flowerbeds have been torn up to access the ground below.
Further down, orange safety fence material surrounds one of the existing trees, and dirt has been shifted around to expose pipes and infrastructure installed below the ground. The trench is lined with white fabric.
Several of the wood pillars supporting the restaurant’s upper deck have wrapped in lining to protect the exterior design. Construction equipment like buckets and ladders have been placed on top of the rock retaining wall in the back.
The refurbishment work can clearly be seen from the restaurant’s deck as well.
Temporary lighting is strung across wood beams and the construction walls, and more open pipes in the ground can be seen.
Disney has not officially announced what work is occurring here, and we don’t know when the exterior refurbishment will be complete.
