Walt Disney Studios announced the digital and home video release date for the live-action Moana.

The film will be available to buy on digital September 8. Fans can get it on Blu-ray and DVD October 6.
The live-action adaptation underperformed at the box office, earning $315 million worldwide. Itss critic score on Rotten Tomatoes is 32% and its Metacritic rating is 42 out of 100. CinemaScore gave it an average grade of A– on an A+ to F scale.
The audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, however, is 88%.
Star Dwayne Johnson said of the negative criticism, “That’s just the way it goes because we’re in this business…If you love it, great. If you don’t, no problem.”
Johnson reprised his role as the demigod Maui after voicing the character in the 2016 animated film and its 2024 sequel, Moana 2. The live-action film stars Catherine Lagaʻaia as Moana. It was directed by Thomas Kail and released in theaters on July 10.
