Disney has removed one of the Merchant of Venus signs from Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. The shop never reopened as a shop following the COVID-19 closure in 2020.

Disney removed Merchant of Venus from their website and the space sat unused for two years before finally reopening as a seating area for the attached Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies.

Merchant of Venus Sign Removed

“Merchant of Venus” is gone from the sign post outside the main entrance. “Merchant of Venus” lettering is still on the exterior walls but could be removed soon. It’s possible Disney has decided to strip all the remaining references to the old store.

The former Stitch’s Great Escape also sits empty in this building. The attraction emptied into Merchant of Venus and Star Traders next door. Though Stitch’s Great Escape closed permanently in 2018, the last sign was not removed until 2022 and some Stitch-themed elements remain on the tower to this day.

A Wreck-It Ralph attraction was expected to replace Stitch’s Great Escape but was indefinitely delayed due to COVID-19. Disney has yet to officially announce any plans for the area.
