Sleeping Beauty Castle was silhouetted against a cloud of black smoke as a nearby industrial fire burned in Chessy.
Conflagration Outside of Disneyland Paris
Videos shared on social media showed thick smoke rising north of Disneyland Park on the evening of September 21. Despite its proximity to the park, the fire did not originate on property or spread to Disneyland Paris itself.
According to La Libre, citing reporting from Le Parisien, the fire broke out at approximately 8 p.m. inside an industrial building in Chessy, the commune where much of Disneyland Paris is located.
The building is reportedly used to store computer equipment. The Seine-et-Marne Departmental Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze affected the ground floor and first floor before breaking through the roof.
Approximately 85 firefighters have been working through the night to get the fire under control.
Disneyland Paris visitors took to social media to share some angles of the ominous scene. One video shared by X user nhabroi shows the thick plume of black smoke rising behind Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty Castle).
Another user, quelquundu77, shared a higher-angle view of the inferno from La Cabane des Robinson (the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse).
TikTok user mondedeslibrespassionnes shared another video from outside the park, including angles from Disney Village and from later in the night along the roadway closest to the blaze.
The currently available reports have not identified any injuries or clarified if the fire had affected park operations.
