The feature exhibit inside Walt Disney Presents at Hollywood Studios has some exciting new additions! Guests can now see sculpts, models, concept art, and costumes from experiences coming to Walt Disney World in 2027 – Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios, Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom, and Carousel of Progress updates at Magic Kingdom. Most of these pieces were also on display at the Walt Disney Imagineering pavilion at this year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. However, Disney also quietly added new concept art for Monstropolis.
Monstropolis – Coming to Hollywood Studios
Picking up after the events of Pixar Animation Studios’ beloved film, humans have now been invited to visit the world of Monsters, Inc. – and the monsters need laughter to power the city and keep it running smoothly. Guests will step into Monstropolis during H.U.M.A.N. Day, short for “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice.”
The new land will include – Harryhausen’s (table-service dining), Archie Scary Pig Pizza (quick-service dining), along with a new show in the Glob Theater, and a new major attraction centered around the iconic door factory. The area’s merchandise shop is named Scareporium. The two new restaurants, shop, and show will open in 2027 with the door coaster opening date still pending.
Inside Walt Disney Presents, you can now get a closer look at some of the monster animals living in Monstropolis. There are four sculpts on display – a two-headed pigeon, bunnies with three ears, and a squirrel with three eyes and tails.
First Look Inside The Glob Theater!
Thanks to the new concept art, we have our first look at the marquee and inside the queue for the Glob Theater! You’ll notice the monster eye chandeliers, monster art, and a concessions area. We can only assume the concession will be all props similar to those found inside Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad at Disneyland.
You can also see concept art for the 3-D show inside the Glob Theater plus inside Harryhausen’s and the land’s entrance on Grand Avenue.
Tropical Americas – Coming to Animal Kingdom
Tropical Americas will open in Animal Kingdom in late 2027 with three new attractions and a restaurant themed to Central and South America. The attractions include Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and El Carrusel de los Animalitos. The model of the new land comes directly from Imagineering and the show floor at D23. You can really see the scale of the new land and how it looks so different from its predecessor, Dinoland U.S.A.
New Carousel of Progress – Coming to Magic Kingdom
A newly imagined Carousel of Progress will open in late spring 2027 at Magic Kingdom. The update will include an opening scene of Walt Disney discussing the upcoming “Florida Project” and the journey of the American family through the 1969 moon landing, Halloween in 1985, New Year’s Eve in 1999, and the distant future. Now on display at Hollywood Studios is concept art and dioramas from the new scenes plus costumes for “mother” and “father” to be voiced by Jamie Lee Curtis and Bryan Cranston.
