Swiss luxury watchmaker Oris has created a new special edition mechanical watch inspired by The Great Gonzo of The Muppets. The ProPilot X Gonzo Edition is based on their ProPilot X Calibre 115 and goes for CHF 8’500 or USD $10,500.

This is Oris’ third Muppets watch after pieces inspired by Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog. The 44mm multi-piece titanium watch features a skeletonized dial in a blue-to-red-to yellow gradient based on Gonzo’s color scheme. It has a rainbow laser-textured dial ring and a 10-day power reserve, indicated by a chili-shaped hand (inspired by one of Gonzo’s famous shirts).

A highlight is the laser-etched image of Gonzo’s face that gradually appears across the 1.8m mainspring when the watch is hand wound. It then disperses as the power reserve runs down. This kind of detail is a first in Swiss watchmaking.

The watch is completed with a titanium bracelet, sapphire crystal, and 100m water resistance.

In an Oris press release, Gonzo said as he loaded himself into a cannon, “Time is a construct! That being said, I’ve been working my way through a water-skiing ballet of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Haven’t quite perfected the shark choreography in the Summer section yet…”
