When you’ve been out in the hot sun all day in Disney World, the one thing that might sound like the PERFECT snack is ice cream. Now, Disney World has ALL kinds of ice cream and soft-serve options (and we’ll never rule out DOLE Whip either), but what if you want to try something new?
Hokkaido Ice Cream
Well, a new ice cream option just popped up in EPCOT, and let’s just say that it’s become so popular that it often sells out. We’re talking about the Hokkaido Ice Cream you can now get at Mitsukoshi in the Japan Pavilion — we finally got our hands on it, and we’re bringing you our full review!!
Hokkaido ice cream is a famous style of soft-serve in Japan made with milk from Hokkaido’s free-roaming dairy cows. It’s different from American ice cream in that it has less sugar content and is generally fluffier and creamier. Plain milk is the most popular flavor, which is what you’ll get at Mitsukoshi for $5.42. Note that the soft-serve is actually in a cone inside the container.
There it is!
Now, we’ve had Hokkaido Ice Cream in Japan, and this wasn’t quite as creamy or soft, but the flavor was VERY close, so it’s fairly authentic. If we had to describe the flavor, it was light a slightly salty vanilla, so it’s a must for vanilla ice cream lovers. This ice cream was airy on the inside, but the outside was very creamy. It also melts even faster than regular soft-serve. Honestly, for $5, it’s a nice treat to have in Disney World, and we think it’s easily worth the price. It will certainly satisfy your sweet tooth, despite its small size. Pro tip: grab it early before it sells out.

If you’re looking for another sweet and cold treat, we can also recommend the Frozen Wafer Sandwich that you can pick up at Mitsukoshi. Several flavors are usually available, but we’re big fans of the Strawberry.

Also, if you’ve been trying to get your hands on that Grapefruit Ice Box, Mitsukoshi posted on Instagram that it will be returning. It’s really refreshing when you mix it in with a soft drink.
