More themed scrim has replaced the black coverings around The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure as the attraction’s extensive exterior refurbishment continues at Disney California Adventure.
The Little Mermaid Refurbishment
The newest themed scrim stretches across another large portion of the attraction building. It is printed to resemble the façade beneath it, recreating the building’s peach-colored walls, blue upper sections, seashell accents, arches, columns, and other architectural details.
The artwork aligns with the building’s unusual roofline and helps the covered structure retain its familiar appearance during the refurbishment. Sections of scaffolding remain visible above the scrim.
The new covering matches the themed scrim already installed around the opposite corner of the building. That section includes printed columns, decorative panels, attraction signage, and an illustration of Ariel swimming beneath the sea.
Temporary construction walls remain around the base of the building. The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure continues to operate, with openings in the barriers allowing guests to reach the entrance and queue. The exterior refurbishment began in August and is believed to include general maintenance and repainting of the façade.
During our latest update, this portion of the building was still concealed by plain black scrim. The added scrim we spotted during our latest visit marks the first time we’ve seen the full front-facing attraction façade treated with a themed covering.
