Crews are assembling a tower crane at the Piston Peak National Park construction site in Magic Kingdom. The crane’s base was installed and the foundation was poured in July.

A large mobile crane is on site to assemble the tower crane, which will be a more permanent fixture. It will be located near the center of the construction site.

We saw the mobile crane lifting a piece of the blue tower crane into place. The blue boxy frame in the foreground is the tower’s base support. A concrete foundation is around it.

We also noticed scaffolding had come down from the Frontierland boardwalk. The boardwalk was completely blocked by construction walls a week ago.

Piston Peak National Park is a Cars-themed expansion to Frontierland featuring two rides: Cars Ridge Run Rally and Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin Along. The area replaces the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. Check out all our Piston Peak construction updates.
