The archway to Tropical Americas has taken the next step in construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom as it’s now wrapped in mesh.

Tropical Americas Construction Update

During our visit on September 27, the entrance archway to Tropical Americas has been wrapped in mesh, and scaffolding has been erected around the structure.

This means the archway is ready for the next step, which is the addition of stucco. Stucco is a cement-based plaster material that hardens into a tough, rock-like protective shell. This will then allow crews to add paint and thematic elements.

Earlier this month, the Tropical Americas archway framework was completed and ready for the next steps after its steel frame was fully covered.

Tropical Americas is transforming the former DinoLand U.S.A. into Pueblo Esperanza, a fictional community inspired by the landscapes, architecture, and cultures of Central and South America.

The newly imagined land will feature Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, which will take guests inside the magical Casita; Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, replacing DINOSAUR with an original adventure through a Maya temple; and El Carrusel de los Animalitos, a carousel featuring hand-carved Disney animal figures. The area will also include a new playground, shops, and dining locations housed within the village.
