Daniel, a senior graphic designer at Universal Orlando Resort, is giving a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes process of creating the design seen on this year’s Halloween Horror Nights souvenir “Blinky” cups.
Halloween Horror Nights Souvenir Cup

In a video shared on the Universal Creative Official’s account, Daniel said the first step was to find elements to use, including colors and graphics.
For this year’s cup, they went for a Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow theme, with their faces on one side and the Halloween Horror Nights 35 logo on the reverse.

The next steps include previewing the design and distorting the background images enough to warp to the cup. The final designs are added to the distorted images so they print perfectly onto the cup that is seen throughout the resort.
When the print is on a physical cup, a few of the graphics and the “Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights” logo glow under a blacklight.

Blinky Cup Missing

This year, Universal Orlando Resort didn’t bring back the “blinky cup” to Halloween Horror Nights. The last time it was offered was in 2024. It had an LED light at the bottom of the cup that flashed, creating an illuminated blinking effect.
The blinky cup was a mainstay of Halloween Horror Nights for several years, and it’s not clear why Universal got rid of it.
