When the former Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) became the new Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) back in 2023, all organizations that fell under this district were required to change their name. Now, a few years later, the Walt Disney World Fire Department has updated the exterior of its building to reflect the change.

Walt Disney World Fire Department Updates Exterior

Previously, the fire department had large “RCFD” (Reedy Creek Fire Department) letters on the side and front of the red building, with the large yellow fire hat above the entrance also decorated with the RCFD branding.

Now, “RC” has been removed from the side of the building, leaving just the letters “FD,” or “Fire Department.”

In addition, the “RCFD” letters at the front of the building have been removed, and the fire hat’s seal has been painted over with white.

The red rectangular sign out front also reflects the naming change, as it’s now decorated with the CFTOD name and logo.

In early 2023, RCID was renamed the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD), and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appointed a new board. First created in 1967 to support Walt Disney World’s development in Florida, the local government entity supports certain aspects of economic development and tourism within the district’s boundaries, such as overseeing land use and providing essential public services.
