Walt Disney World has overhauled their shipping policy and rates for merchandise that guests want to send home. The change was implemented today, September 1, across the resorts.
Walt Disney World Changes Home Shipping Policy
Previously, guests who didn’t want to travel home with some merchandise items could ship their items home for a fee. The shipping price depended on the value of the merchandise, and guests could ship multiple items together.
It was $19.99 to ship items valued between 0 and $100, $34.99 for $100.01 – $250, and $74.99 for $250.01 – $500. Anything above that value was $99.99 to ship.
International shipping was between $30 and $150. Shipping increased by $10 for each $50 interval starting at 0 – $50.
Since then, Walt Disney World has overhauled the previous shipping policy. Disney is now using the third-party Ricoh as the shipping service provider. The new policy has the following instructions:
Step 1: Choose a Bag
Pick a bag that best fits your items.
- Green – Extra Small – $19.97
- Great for small purchases and trinkets
- Pink – Small – $29.97
- It gives you a little more room for a few shirts or small toy or popcorn bucket
- Blue – Medium – $44.97
- Plenty of space for most of your purchases – souvenirs, tee shirts, plushies, or small suitcase
- Yellow – Large – $49.97
- A small carry-on suitcase and other small items can fit
- Clear – Custom, international, or overweight shipments
- Shipments exceeding 50 pounds are considered overweight
Step 2: Fill the Bag
Place all items inside one bag, making sure to not overfill. Leave the bag open for now.
Step 3: Complete the Shipping Form
Scan the QR code and follow the on-screen steps for shipping, payment, and contact information.
Step 4: Secure and Return
Secure the bag with the provided zip tie tag, return to a participating location, share your online confirmation with a Cast Member, and hand the Cast Member your tagged bag. Once the package has been processed by the Ricoh Merchandise Shipping Center, a confirmation email with the tracking number will be sent.
All shipping rates also include insurance coverage up to $100 at no additional charge. As the declared value of merchandise increases by $100, the insurance charge increases by $1-$2, starting at $5 for the lowest amount. The maximum insurance coverage listed is $5000.
A user on Reddit also noted that you can put whatever you want in the bags, no receipts required.
To ship items, talk to a Cast Member in any gift shop for more information. There is also a dedicated shipping station in Disney Springs, located in the back of Marketplace Co-Op.
