Walt Disney Imagineering has dropped a recap of the clues regarding the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (S.E.A.) artifact teased at D23. The artifact was “stolen” and fans must figure out the name of the thief through these riddles they left behind.

S.E.A. archivist Bonnie Booker is sharing the riddles on social media one by one every Tuesday. Today, we received a recap ahead of tomorrow’s clue.
A board is presented in one of the photos, with the previous clues, some sticky notes, and lots of connected dots! We previously thought this series of riddles would lead us to Matterhorn Bobsleds being included in S.E.A., but there is a red herring on the image of Matterhorn.
A note from Bonnie Booker reads:
Excellent work so far, explorers! I’m Society of Explorers and Adventurers Archivist Bonnie Booker and I’ve been sending Imagineering all the rides I found so far.
I thought it was prudent to compile all the found letters and information you discovered about our thief in one document. We’ve answered questions, but only brought up more. For example, how can someone be leaving clues across so many decades.
For those just joining us, this is also an excellent recapitulation of what we know so far. Don’t miss the newspaper clippings from 1886! Best of luck in your journeys, adventurers.
The newspaper clipping from March 1886 references new findings from winter expeditions more heading up in the spring, including a climbing group to Switzerland.
Jason Chandler, a character incorporated into Big Thunder Mountain lore, will once again be traveling to the American Frontier where Rainbow Ridge is hosting a celebration in honor of their recent discoveries in the local mines. They call it the Ridge Jewel.
This leads us to believe that perhaps it’s not Matterhorn Bobsleds that will be incorporated, but something new for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Disney then shared the answers to the first, second, and third clues. The thief was rejected from the S.E.A. and potentially stole the Ridge Jewel. This could be the missing artifact.
What is S.E.A.?
For the uninitiated, the Society of Explorers and Adventurers is devoted to, well, adventure and exploration! S.E.A.’s mission is to reveal truths, right wrongs, and live to tell the tale. You might’ve heard of their original motto, “Exploratio continua” in Latin or “continued exploration” in English. In the modern day, that saying is coupled with “wonder, explore, and discover.”
That also means the Society is always looking for the next blood-rushing, exciting adventure to embark on! From mounting expeditions into the unknown to chronicling the explorations of other adventurers, S.E.A. is proud to protect the artistic achievements of human society. Society members climbed the highest mountain peaks, rowed through the world’s longest rivers, and built countless imaginative inventions that expanded the organization’s ability to explore.
With humble beginnings dating as far back as the 1500s, S.E.A. was founded by a distinguished body of mariners, scientists, inventors, and artists. The Society traces its origins back to the mythic Fortress Exploration; its earliest known headquarters. Here, early explorers exchanged information about daring adventures, new inventions, and shared their collective knowledge for innovation for all.
Since then, S.E.A. remained a hub of ingenuity and discovery, passionately dedicated to exploring what is not yet understood. To accomplish this, members meticulously document their long history—from finding lost artifacts to retracing the steps of their adventurer alumni—and embark on modern expeditions to under-researched locations. Or, to put it simply: they identify, conserve, and curate the world’s unknowns around us. After all, a mystery is only the catalyst to adventure!
