World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and Disney may be preparing to step into the ring together for a series of special events in 2027.
WWE and Disney Planning Special Events for 2027
TKO Group Holdings President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Shapiro says WWE and The Walt Disney Company are developing “special events” intended to unite their family audiences in 2027. TKO is the parent company of WWE and UFC.
Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference on Tuesday, September 8, Shapiro discussed WWE’s growing sponsorship and advertising business. He cited the planned Disney events while explaining WWE’s appeal to families.
“When it comes to going after families, that’s our audience. Frankly, I’m excited for 2027 because we’re working with The Walt Disney Company on some special events around Disney and WWE and bringing those two audiences together since, of course, what do they have in common? Family.”
Shapiro did not elaborate on the nature, timing, or locations of the events. Disney and WWE have not yet formally announced any specific projects associated with the collaboration.
WWE and ESPN Deal
The collaboration would build upon WWE’s existing relationship with Disney-owned ESPN. In August 2025, ESPN and WWE announced a five-year media-rights agreement making ESPN the exclusive U.S. home of WWE’s marquee Premium Live Events.
Although the agreement was initially scheduled to begin in 2026, the collaboration began in effect with WWE Premium Live Events debuting on ESPN with Wrestlepalooza in September 2025.
The agreement includes WWE’s biggest events, such as WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and Money in the Bank. Events stream in their entirety through ESPN’s direct-to-consumer service, with select coverage also airing on ESPN’s linear networks. WWE continues to produce the events.
ESPN reportedly pays WWE an average of $325 million annually under the five-year agreement, valuing the deal at approximately $1.6 billion, according to CNBC.
