Anthony Daniels Reprises Star Wars Role for Super Bowl LXI

Anthony Daniels will be returning to voice C-3PO in the animated Star Wars Funday Football Super Bowl LXI telecast coming next year.

Daniels first played C-3PO in the original Star Wars film, A New Hope, back in 1977. He has since gone on to play the character in nearly every Star Wars film, as well as in several Star Wars television shows, like The Clone Wars and Rebels. Daniels has even played C-3PO in other films and shows, like The LEGO Movie and LEGO Star Wars specials.

Star Wars Funday Football will be broadcast simultaneously with Super Bowl LXI on Sunday, February 14, 2027. Fans will be able to watch live on Disney+, Disney Channel, Disney XD, and the ESPN App.

ESPN will produce Star Wars Funday Football with data visualization technology from Sony’s Beyond Sports, which has enabled the animated gameplay of previous Funday Football presentations. The technology combines tracking data from the NFL’s Next Gen Stats and Sony’s Hawk-Eye Innovations optical tracking.

This will be the fourth Funday Football, following The Simpsons Funday Football, Toy Story Funday Football, and Monsters Funday Football, but the first animated altcast of a Super Bowl.

Star Wars Funday Football will be just a few days before a restored version of the original 1977 Star Wars film returns to theaters on Friday, February 19.
