Bette Midler, who plays Winifred Sanderson in the Hocus Pocus films, recently teased the return of the witchy trio for Hocus Pocus 3 on her Instagram.
First Look at Sanderson Sisters in ‘Hocus Pocus 3’
Hocus Pocus 3 was first greenlit by Disney back in June 2023, but it wasn’t until October 2025 that star Bette Midler confirmed she’d seen a “brilliant” script for the third and final film. In May 2026, Deadline announced that Hocus Pocus 3 was “officially in early development” at Disney Live Action Studios, with all three Sanderson Sisters — Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy — confirmed to be returning.
Midler, who has been openly excited about returning to Salem, recently shared a production still from the Hocus Pocus 3 set on her Instagram account:
The image features the Sanderson sisters in a smoky silhouette, framed by imposing heavy doors with circular ironwork details.
“Sisssstaaaahs…prepare thyselves. ‘Tis time,” reads her caption, also tagging her Sanderson sisters co-stars. No plot details are known at this time.
‘Hocus Pocus’
While the original 1993 Hocus Pocus was not an immediate success, it has become a Halloween cult classic in the decades since it was released. A sequel film, simply titled Hocus Pocus 2, premiered on September 30, 2022 — 29 years after the original — on Disney+. As noted by Deadline, the sequel set a Disney+ streaming record at the time, with 2.7 billion minutes of viewing in a week.
The Sanderson Sisters also returned to the Disney Parks for the 2026 Halloween season, hosting the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular exclusively during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom and appearing on their own line of merch.
