Disney Adds Pat McAfee and Next Gen Stats Broadcasts to Super Bowl LXI Lineup

Disney is expanding its Super Bowl LXI coverage with two alternate broadcasts, giving viewers more ways to watch the game on February 14, 2027.

Super Bowl LXI Alternate Broadcasts

As reported by Variety, Pat McAfee will lead Super Bowl LXI Field Pass with The Pat McAfee Show on ESPNU. A separate presentation, Super Bowl LXI Playbook with Next Gen Stats, will air on NFL Network.

Both join the previously announced Super Bowl LXI with Peyton and Eli on ESPN2. The traditional broadcast will feature Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Lisa Salters, and Laura Rutledge on ESPN, ABC, and Disney+.

As an “alterna-cast,” or alternate telecast, Field Pass offers another presentation of the same game with unique commentary and live production. The ManningCast, for example, offers Peyton and Eli Manning’s analysis and conversation with guests, giving fans a more informal way to follow the action.

McAfee’s Field Pass brings that conversational approach to field level. For its upcoming NFL coverage, McAfee will be stationed behind an end zone with Dan Orlovsky and Darius Butler, while Connor Campbell, Ty Schmit, and Tone Digs contribute from a stadium suite.

McAfee is a former Indianapolis Colts punter and kickoff specialist who played eight NFL seasons from 2009 through 2016. He earned two Pro Bowl selections and First-Team All-Pro honors in 2014. He now regularly hosts The Pat McAfee Show, which joined ESPN’s lineup in 2023, and serves as an analyst on College GameDay.

Playbook, meanwhile, will offer a more focused look at game statistics and strategy, using NFL tracking data, predictive analytics, augmented reality graphics, and wider camera views. Its Super Bowl commentary team is yet to be announced.

Super Bowl LXI will take place at SoFi Stadium in California and mark ESPN’s first Super Bowl broadcast. Disney recently confirmed that Disney+ will also livestream the game. The company’s broader plans include ESPN Beach in Santa Monica, with broadcasts, entertainment, and fan experiences during Super Bowl week.
