The producer of Encanto has admitted that there have been no discussions to greenlight a sequel to the film.
No Encanto Sequel
Creative Executive of Walt Disney Animation Studios Yvett Merino spoke with The Direct‘s Russ Milheim while promoting Disney’s newest movie, Hexed. When asked about the probability of Encanto 2, she admitted that there have been no discussions about greenlighting an Encanto sequel.
No, but I’m always here for it. ‘Encanto’ is the first film that I produced, and it really holds a very special place in my heart, because it’s about a Latino family in the forefront. So anything that has to do with the world of ‘Encanto,’ I’m in for. What I’m really excited for now is the casita that’s opening up in Florida in the parks. They’re building a whole casita and an attraction there. I’m excited for that. But anything ‘Encanto,’ I’m there for.
She also spoke with The Direct back in 2023 regarding a sequel to the film, and her answer remains unchanged. However, she is excited about the expansion of the movie across the parks.
John Leguizamo, the voice of Bruno, previously said last year that he’d “love to see a sequel” to the 2021 film. However, at this time, there are no plans for a sequel. That’s not to say it may not happen at all. After all, there is an entire land being built around this film.
Tropical Americas is set to open in 2027 and will consist of the fictional village of Pueblo Esperanza featuring a wood-carved carousel called El Carrusel de los Animalitos and Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto. The latter is set on the day Antonio gets his gift of speaking to animals and stars the original movie cast.
DINOSAUR is being reimagined into Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent with Harrison Ford as the character’s model for a ride for the first time. There will also be a new playground added to the land.
