Disney is opening up more of its entertainment library to Netflix under a new licensing agreement that will bring everything from Percy Jackson and the Olympians to Pixar films and all five original Ice Age movies to the competing streaming service.

According to Variety, one of the first arrivals will be Disney+ original series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Seasons 1 and 2 will begin streaming globally on Netflix October 4 for a limited three-month window. The timing isn’t a coincidence. Season 3 premieres exclusively on Disney+ November 20, giving Netflix viewers a chance to catch up before the new season arrives.

The same strategy is being used for Ice Age. All five original films will hit Netflix worldwide October 4 for three months ahead of the theatrical release of Ice Age: Boiling Point on February 5, 2027.

More Disney-owned television is on the way as well. Seasons 1-4 of ABC’s Will Trent arrive globally November 3, followed by the first two seasons of Shifting Gears beginning December 1 in the U.S. Felicity, Revenge, Army Wives, and Fresh Off the Boat are among the library series included in the agreement, although availability will vary by region.

The deal gets even more interesting in early 2027, when select Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar movies begin appearing on Netflix globally. Titles will include Soul, Elio, and Raya and the Last Dragon, with additional films and individual release dates still to come.

This doesn’t mean Disney is pulling these titles away from Disney+ or Hulu. Movies and shows currently available on Disney’s own streaming services will remain there. Instead, Disney is using Netflix’s enormous global audience to generate additional licensing revenue and, in cases like Percy Jackson and Ice Age, introduce more viewers to franchises with new releases right around the corner.
