We’ve seen a lot of wild Disney rumors lately!
From rumors about new attractions to gossip about Disney celebrities, we’ve seen it all. But right now, one big story swirling around on the internet is that Disney is building a theme park in Ohio…and we’re here to tell you the TRUTH.
This week, an article and corresponding social media video began circulating claiming that Disney is building a new Disneyland park in Ohio. The reel on Facebook claimed that the new property would be massive with thirty resorts, 100 pickleball courts, and an entire Marvel-themed park. In the hours after this was published, many folks were searching online to see if this “news” was true.
We’re here to report to you that the rumor of Disneyland Ohio is absolutely false. The original story was posted by a satirical news site, and Disney has announced no such plans to build a theme park in Cincinnati or elsewhere in Ohio. As it stands, the only new Disney theme park that has been announced is Disney Abu Dhabi.
There were a wide variety of comments on the Facebook reel that seemed to believe the news partially, so this is your usual reminder to check the source of a video on social media before you believe any Disney news announced that way! Here at DFB, we share Disney news from reputable sources, so you can be sure that we’re vetting everything we post to make sure that it’s valid.
Fans have been speculating for years about Disney building another theme park in the United States. There have been many unsubstantiated claims in the past that Texas is on Disney’s radar, and it’s no secret that a large group of Disney Adults have been begging for a fifth gate in Disney World. The rumors of a fifth park in Florida started up again earlier this year after documents showed that Disney has the allowance to build the park on its existing property, if they so desired.
Of course, right now Disney is investing heavily in its current parks, particularly in Disney World. Magic Kingdom is getting a Cars-themed Piston Peak expansion in Frontierland and the addition of Villains Land in the coming years, adding multiple new attractions, as well as shopping and dining locations. There’s even going to be a Maleficent coaster!
Over at Hollywood Studios, Monstropolis is well underway, with plans to be partially open in 2027. Later on, Disney will open its first suspended roller coaster in this land. And at Animal Kingdom, we’re gearing up for the massive addition of Tropical Americas, with attractions themed to Encanto and Indiana Jones.
There’s a lot for Disney fans to look forward to in the coming years, but as of right now, a new Disney park in the U.S. isn’t one of those things. Of course, if Disney ever does announce a new park stateside, you know we’ll let you know ASAP!
