Disney World announced another expansion of its complimentary Airport Luggage Transfer Service Thursday morning. While that’s great news for guests staying at three more Moderate Resorts, some Disney fans have a question: Why are Deluxe Resorts still being left out?
The latest additions are Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, including Gran Destino Tower, and both Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts (Riverside and French Quarter). With Caribbean Beach already participating, that means guests staying at all of Disney World’s Value and Moderate Resorts can now take advantage of the service, provided they’re flying on a participating airline.
We shared the news on The DIS Facebook page, and it didn’t take long for the comments to start rolling in.
One reader asked, “Why has this not returned to the deluxe resorts?” Another wrote, “You would think they’d offer this to deluxe resort guests first, kinda like a hey, thanks for paying so much.”
And I get where they’re coming from. When you’re spending considerably more to stay at a Deluxe Resort, it’s reasonable to wonder why guests paying less are getting a complimentary convenience that isn’t available to you.
But I think there’s another way to look at this.
Could Disney Be Taking Its Time for a Reason?
Airport Luggage Transfer Service is still officially a pilot program. It started at Disney’s Value Resorts in 2025 and has gradually expanded to include more airlines, arrival service, and now all four Moderate Resorts.
The service is operated by a third-party company called BagCheck, and there’s quite a bit involved in getting guests’ checked luggage between Orlando International Airport and their Disney Resort hotels.
Personally, I think it makes sense to introduce something like this gradually. Give the company time to work through the logistics, see what works, make adjustments, and then expand to more locations.
That’s my interpretation of the rollout, of course. Disney hasn’t said that working out operational issues is the reason Deluxe Resorts haven’t been added.
Still, I’d much rather see a service like this grow carefully than have Disney rush to make it available everywhere before the operation is ready.
There’s Another Thing Worth Remembering
Some of the comments also called for the return of Disney’s Magical Express, which I completely understand. I miss that service, too!

But Airport Luggage Transfer isn’t the same thing. Magical Express provided complimentary airport transportation along with luggage delivery. The new program handles checked bags only, so guests still need to arrange transportation between the airport and their resort.
And while Deluxe Resort guests are understandably eager to see their hotels added, this doesn’t necessarily mean Disney has decided they don’t deserve the benefit. The program has been expanding steadily, and the newest additions show that Disney and BagCheck are continuing to develop it.
For now, Disney hasn’t announced when or whether Deluxe Resorts will join the participating hotel list.
What Do You Think?
I can see both sides of this one. Deluxe Resort guests pay a premium, and it’s understandable that they’d expect access to conveniences like this. At the same time, I don’t think a gradual rollout is necessarily a bad thing, especially when it involves something as important as getting your luggage where it needs to go.
Would you rather Disney make Airport Luggage Transfer available at every resort right away, or are you okay with the company taking its time to expand the pilot?
And if you’ve already used the service, I’d love to hear how it went!
