The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel will close tomorrow, October 12, for extensive renovations. While the timeline is still unknown, we got a first look at some of the Disney Princess-themed refurbishments in the works for the hotel.
Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel
Although refurbishment work at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel has been ongoing since June, the entire hotel has just completely closed for more extensive work. This includes replacing carpets and hanging new artwork in the hallways to reflect new Disney Princess theming throughout.
Similarly themed to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa at Walt Disney World, the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel originally featured Victorian-inspired design throughout.
The original theming included green carpeting with elaborate floral trellis accents and yellow damask-patterned and striped wallpaper.

Disney Princess Refurbishment
The hallway test shows the design contrast between the new Princess-inspired theming (in front) and the original Victorian design (in the background).
The new hallway carpet is a deep blue with gray and blue marbled designs throughout, along with white stars and curlicue frames. The yellow and green wallpaper has been removed and replaced with light gray and gray-blue marbled wallpaper; the mid-wall molding has also been painted a grayish-blue hue.
The new marbled wallpaper features shimmering gold pixie dust and stars throughout.
The framed artwork on display in the hallway test is from Wish and features concept art of Queen Amaya, the Kingdom of Rosas, and Star.
Stylized artwork of the Fairy Godmother welcomes guests to the Walt Disney Suite.
