After we got a bird’s-eye view inside the Monsters, Inc. door coaster yesterday, our reporter captured some shots from the ground for a new perspective on the massive indoor coaster currently under construction in the former Disney’s Hollywood Studios Cast Member parking lot.
Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster Under Construction
Multiple cranes and a rectangular tangle of metal now dominate the Cast Member parking lot in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as construction of the Monsters, Inc. suspended door coaster continues its steady progress.
For perspective, here is one of bioreconstruct’s recent aerial shots of the site, where you can clearly see the red crane.
The pair of domed frames also visible on the right in both photos could be the beginnings of the loading area, based on the presence of the black track supports in the areas behind and next to them.
Zooming in, we can see a pair of heavy, rectangular concrete pillars installed near the arched metal frames. The pillar on the right also has a large cutout in the middle, perhaps for installation of a future themed element.
To the left are the heavy black supports for the coaster track, which has already begun installation.
Door Coaster Beam Signing
Cast Members were recently invited to sign the beams of the new Monsters, Inc. door coaster. Beam signing is a long-standing cast member tradition for new Disney attractions being built.
Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster and Monstropolis
Monstropolis, which replaces Muppets Courtyard, will open in phases. Most of the land will open next year, but Disney hasn’t announced an opening timeframe for the coaster, which will be Disney’s first vertical lift and first suspended coaster. Aerial photos from last month provide a clearer picture of how trains will travel through the door coaster currently under construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Parts of Monstropolis will open to guests in 2027 while construction continues on the door coaster. Follow our Monstropolis construction updates for more coverage of the upcoming land.
