Hotel Coffee Crawl: Does Disney World’s Most Popular Coffee Shop Live Up To The Hype?

Hotel Coffee Crawl: Does Disney World’s Most Popular Coffee Shop Live Up To The Hype?

Welcome back, coffee people! It’s time for episode FIVE of trying to find out which Disney World hotel is the best for people who want good coffee and also want to add a little Disney magic to their workday!

Chip at Disney’s Riviera Resort

That’s right! I’ve given myself the challenge of visiting EVERY Disney World hotel to see which is the best to work from home (and drink coffee) at! We’re basing this all on their coffee, their atmosphere, and their space (the number of tables and outlets available), and today, we’re headed to the Riviera Resort!

Disney’s Riviera Resort is one of the company’s newer Disney Vacation Club resorts, opening in December 2019. This resort offers 1-, 2-, and 3-Bedroom Villas, as well as Tower and Deluxe Studios. It is located most closely to EPCOT and is home to a Disney Skyliner location.

The resort is inspired by Europe, specifically Walt and his wife Lillian’s own travels along the French Riviera. The theme translates into a refined and elegant space that is simultaneously bright and airy, with a touch of Disney whimsy through several murals.

There are several (delicious) dining locations at this resort, including Bar Riva (the resort’s pool bar), Le Petit Cafe (the resort’s coffee shop/bakery), Primo Piatto (the resort’s quick-service location), and Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera (the resort’s table-service location).

It’s a fine dining spot!

Coffee – 9/10

Let’s start with the coffee, which I had VERY high expectations for. Everyone RAVES about the coffee at Le Petit Cafe, especially their specialty cold brews, so it was a no-brainer that I had to get one of those! I decided to grab a large Cinnamon Cold Brew for $7.44. This is topped with House-made Honey-Almond Whipped Cream, and I added a splash of oat milk. And let’s just say that this coffee did NOT disappoint.

Cinnamon Cold Brew

Most of the coffees I’ve had during this series have either been so sweet that I couldn’t taste the coffee flavor or so bitter that I couldn’t even drink it. This cold brew was straight in the middle — not too sweet but still can taste the coffee without being too bitter! The only reason it doesn’t get a perfect 10/10 is that I wish there was a bit more of that cinnamon flavor, but other than that, it was DELICIOUS!

I highly recommend!

Atmosphere – 10/10

The vibes of the Riviera are just impeccable. I wanted to start my day outside, but unfortunately, the Wi-Fi didn’t reach there, so I was forced to work my whole day inside (which was not a problem at all). Next to Le Petit Cafe is the Voyageurs’ Lounge, and this is the spot that guests tend to work from. This lounge reflects Walt Disney’s travels through Europe, including decor inspired by the books Walt Disney collected and his 1935 “Grand Tour” through the continent.

Voyageurs’ Lounge

It was dimly lit, but not too dark to the point where I couldn’t see my work, and the ambiance and music playing were perfect for the resort. Most resorts play the classic Disney songs, which the Riviera did too, but in a different way — the songs were sung in French! This added an extremely nice touch to my workday. And so many other guests had the same idea because almost every table that was occupied had a laptop with them to do their work!

Voyageurs’ Lounge

Space – 7/10

Speaking of Voyageurs’ Lounge and their tables, there were quite a few. This space was really meant for people who wanted to work from home at the resort, so there are outlets readily available at each table, including at the long, tall table. However, there were only about 10 tables/spaces for each party. Le Petit Cafe also has some seating with outlets, but only about five tables in there. So, while there were plenty of outlets for the number of tables, there could have been more tables, which is why I’m giving the space a 7/10.

Voyageurs’ Lounge

Overall – 8.5/10

That’s right, everyone — we have a NEW leader! The coffee was delicious, the atmosphere was AMAZING, and there was enough space where I wasn’t fighting to find a table or an outlet! This has definitely been my favorite resort to work from so far in this series, which is why it is getting an 8.5/10.

Here are my current rankings:

  1. Riviera Resort — 8.5/10
  2. BoardWalk Inn — 8/10
  3. Coronado Springs Resort – 7/10
  4. Polynesian Village Resort – 5/10
  5. Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds — 5/10

Le Petit Cafe
