The expanded seating area at Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree has now opened at Disneyland Resort. Construction had been ongoing since May.
Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree Seating Patio Now Open

Construction at Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree first started on May 20, when construction walls surrounded the area underneath the upper patio. As of September, much of the landscape was torn up, with stone pavers for the flooring arriving in early October.

The construction has since been completed, so we can now get a closer look at the newly expanded seating area. On one side of the outdoor venue, there is a small stone staircase leading up the lower seating area, with trash and recycling cans on the upper landing. Two beaver statues adorn a nearby sign pointing to the wheelchair accessible ramp further down the main walkway.

Several wood tables have varying arrangements of two-to-four chairs each. The chairs have natural-looking stick backs with brown pleather seat cushions. A handful of tables have green-and-white umbrellas for weather protection.

The new patio also features several new lamp posts, each topped with brass-styled box lanterns featuring subtle bear detailing on the lantern housing.

The expanded seating area extends below the entire upper deck of the restaurant, with a wheelchair-accessible ramp available along the area’s left edge relative to guests in the adjacent walkway.

Underneath an overhang, a cave structure of rocks with a small brown wood door has been added. The gray mailbox nearby has the name “Rufus” printed on it, a reference to Rufus the Bear. Back when Bayou Country was Bear Country at Disneyland, Rufus could be heard snoring from his cave along the entrance path into the land.

More tables with umbrellas can be found further down in the seating area. The support posts are surrounded by wood plank detailing instead of stone pavers.

A yellow beehive can also be spotted on one of the rafters above the accessible ramp.

The companion restroom nearby is accompanied by a vibrant portrait of the 5 Bear Rugs band as featured in the Country Bear Jamboree, framed brown pine needles and pinecones.

A blue “Family Den” sign decorated with the Sun Bonnets can be found above the red restroom doorway as well.

More bear detailing can be found on the other antique lamp post, and some of the tables are already being used by guests.

Updated landscaping has also been added in this area, showcasing a variety of green and brown shrubbery. The planter area is enclosed with brown wood fencing.
