Has this ultra-popular Disney World restaurant lost its status as a must-do experience?

For years, ‘Ohana has been at the top of TONS of people’s Disney World bucket lists as one of the most famous restaurants around the Resort. But has this longtime fan-favorite spot lost its sparkle? We asked you to chime in with your thoughts, and y’all DID NOT hold back!

Located at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, ‘Ohana has been a tough reservation to snag for years, with two unique dining experiences on offer. It’s especially popular for breakfast, since it features a Character Meal with appearances by Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, and other Disney friends (usually Pluto).

Even though dinner at ‘Ohana is NOT a Character Meal, guests still flock there for the great views (including Magic Kingdom fireworks, if you time it right) and the Hawaiian-style all-you-can-eat feast.

But despite its history as a legendary Disney World restaurant, many people — including us — have noticed that ‘Ohana hasn’t necessarily been living up to the hype in recent years. We wanted to hear YOUR thoughts, so we asked our Facebook followers, “Does it still live up to its legendary reputation, or do you think it’s time for Disney to make some changes?” and heard lots of similar feedback based on your recent experiences!

One common theme we saw pop up is that many of you still enjoy breakfast at ‘Ohana for the tradition, but dinner has been super disappointing lately. Sandy said, ” We have been having breakfast & dinner at ‘Ohana for 28 years. We still love the breakfast and it is our check out morning tradition to eat there before going to the airport. Dinner though is now a for our family. Our last dinner there was last year, 2025, and the only thing we enjoyed were the sides…”

Another thing several commenters mentioned is that while they have had good meals at ‘Ohana recently, the quality has become super inconsistent, and they no longer trust it to be a dependably good meal. Tonia said, “We have gone multiple times over the years, 2 times in the past few months. The service is always amazing. The food is not as dependable. We go because we love the place and crave the delicious dishes, but the food isn’t always consistent. Our recent visit we went one night and mushy noodles and the texture of the shrimp was hard to stomach. But we ate there again before our trip ended because we had a reservation and the food was good. I can see why the reviews are mixed now… what you get varies day to day.”

Many people mentioned that even though they used to be big ‘Ohana fans, they just can’t get on board with it lately, like Eric, who said, “It used to be a must for us but food quality has slipped the last few years,” and Jeanne, who said, “Not nearly as good as it used to be. The noodles are still awesome, but everything else is just ok.”

On the other hand, some people shared that they were happy with their recent ‘Ohana meals, like Robin, who said, “We still love it! We like the bowls instead of skewers. We love the servers. We love the singer. We love the food. We love the atmosphere. It’s our favorite.”

Overall, the consensus among the commenters seemed to be that while they had high hopes for ‘Ohana based on its reputation, they expected more consistency with the quality of the food for the price they paid. Tawni summed that sentiment up well with the comment, “I think everybody loves the thought of it but the quality of food is really needing an upgrade.”

Just like SO many of you, we also have plenty of incredible memories from ‘Ohana over the years, so we hope the restaurant will turn it around and bring back the consistently great meals that we used to count on!
