Tower of Terror’s latest refurbishment work at Hollywood Studios harkens back to the Hollywood Tower Hotel’s fateful lightning strike, with new thematic detailing now visible through the scaffolding.
Tower of Terror Refurbishment

The lightning strike detail stretches diagonally across the pink façade, with portions visible between the scaffolding platforms. Dark purple shading surrounds brighter white sections, creating a branching pattern across the building.

Near the top of the tower, the painted detail extends across the wall to the left of a small circular window. Additional purple-and-white sections continue diagonally down the adjoining façade, though scaffolding obscures much of the work.
Scaffolding remains across the main tower, surrounding “The Hollywood Tower Hotel” sign and extending to the upper roofline. A tall access ladder also remains in front of the building. In our previous update, we covered the ladder’s installation and additional painting around the attraction’s balconies and archway.

Scaffolding removal revealed portions of the refurbished side façade in September, but extensive platforms remain in place elsewhere. Scaffolding installation began above the gift shop in early July before expanding across the tower.

The attraction has remained operational during the exterior work, with gaps in the scaffolding at the elevator windows preserving guests’ views of the park.
