The first scary building in Monstropolis has been uncovered as scaffolding comes down in the new land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Monstropolis Facade Uncovered
Scaffolding has covered the facade for several months as crews worked to add the monstrous details of the restrooms next to Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, the quick-service restaurant in Monstropolis. It’s named after the six-legged Fear Tech mascot frequently “borrowed” by mischievous Monsters University students.
Scaffolding came down very recently, and we were able to get our first look on October 27.
The biggest detail that’s been fully uncovered is the yellow “TRY OUR CANS” sign on the brick wall. The red lines may indicate future detailing. It was added just recently, but scaffolding only provided an obstructed view.
Steel elements cover the corners of the facade and underneath the arched windows. Teeth and horns trim the facade in several places, including around the windows and on top of the roof.
The shingles on the top portion of the facade are mostly blue with some cream and brown accents.
The water tower remains on the top of the roof.
On the other side of the building, which faces the courtyard of Monstropolis, there are more arched windows with teeth details. Glass has not been put in yet, however, one window was missing its cover. More steel covers the facade to create a multi-dimensional look.
The next facade over (Archie’s Pig Scare Pizza) has a weathered concrete look, and now that the scaffolding has come down we got a better look at it as well. It does not have the same red brick facade or monstrous detailing as the restrooms, but a few spots do reveal some brick detailing.
Monstropolis will open in phases beginning with most of the land in 2027. The coaster will open later. Check out more construction updates.
