More Solar-Powered Trash Cans Arrive at Disney Springs and Disney's Animal Kingdom

Solar-powered trash cans have arrived at Disney Springs and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, adding more unique styles to the growing assortment of powered trash can designs.

Disney Springs Solar-Powered Trash Cans

During our recent visit to Disney Springs, we noticed that several solar-powered trash cans have been added in various spots in Town Center.

The trash cans are a solid blue-gray color and have white decals on the side with Disney Springs branding. The decals depict buildings and the iconic water tower of Disney Springs, along with the text, “The source of inspiration.”

The solar panels are located on the top panels of the new cans, which are used to power built-in trash compactors. The new design features foot pedals to open the waste bin (though they can also be pulled open by hand).

This has proven a little too confusing for some guests, and Disney even released an instructional video in response.

This updated trash can design first debuted at EPCOT in June, and Disney confirmed soon after that they would be rolling out the powered design across Walt Disney World.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Solar-Powered Trash Cans

Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, more solar-powered trash cans have arrived in various spots throughout the park.

Over by Expedition Everest, the trash cans are brown with red triangular decals on the side depicting a tiger surrounded by three white clouds.

Over in the Africa section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, more solar-powered trash cans be spotted in a brighter shade of orange.

Decals on these cans depict white “Harambe Enterprise” logos on the side. African iconography and animals are incorporated into the logo.

The last of the new batch of solar-powered trash cans were spotted over by the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail.

These green trash cans are specifically branded with the “Harambe Wildlife Reserve” logo. A sable antelope can be seen in the center of the decal.
