At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, crews are actively working in view of park guests to bring the new Tropical Americas land to life. Here’s the latest construction update from the ground.
Tropical Americas Construction Update

Rising above the green construction walls, several workers were busy installing metal lath on the entrance archway to the future Pueblo Esperanza.

Here, you can see the metal lath and metal corner bead being installed. This galvanized steel mesh is the final preparation layer before the stucco layer is applied. The metal mesh gives the wet cement something to hold onto and lock the stucco into place.

Above is concept art of what the archway will look like when completed.

Peering through, we could also see yellow-painted block on some buildings, as well as more framing for roof peaks.

Seen here is a worker installing Polyglass waterproofing membrane on another side of the yellow brick building.

The large dirt pile and bare cinderblock building and retaining wall contrast with the surrounding themed walls and completed entrance pillars, which resemble worn stonework dotted with moss. This building is in the central area of Pueblo Esperanza.

Several of the old DinoLand, U.S.A. structures now have Typar house wrap covering their roofs before new materials and theming are installed. These buildings were home to the former Restaurantosaurus and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures.

Work continues on the mountain, in the upper left and the Encanto Casita, which is still very bare-bones consisting of the white steele framework on the right. As we saw in an aerial update, the steel frame is resembling Casita more and more each day compared to the concept art:

The ride, called Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, is set on the day Antonio receives his gift of speaking to animals.
