When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle of the road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well.
We recently stopped by the newly reopened Turf Club Bar & Grill to see if anything had changed after the refurbishment, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. In the past, we’ve ranked this spot pretty low on our list of Disney World hotel restaurants, but has that changed? Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here!
Atmosphere
The Turf Club Bar and Grill is inspired by turn-of-the-century Upstate New York and racing culture. This is super prominent in the newly refurbished restaurant, which features a new raised ceiling with wooden beams and vintage light fixtures, along with new ceiling light panels and refreshed carpeting as well.
The indoor seating area is refined with dark woods and forest greens, though it’s not at all stuffy. A covered outdoor seating area also boasts views of Lake Buena Vista. Head here if you love horse races, golf, or just relaxing away from the crowds. It’s not a “destination” restaurant, but the food is tasty, and the service is great.
But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!
Menu
This relaxing restaurant in Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort offers a variety of standard American fare for dinner, including pasta dishes, salads, seafood appetizers, steaks, and chops during dinner hours. The menu got a whole refresh along with the restaurant itself, so we were excited to try some of the new items.
Of course, there are plenty of desserts, too, including Chocolate-Hazelnut Cake and Apple Tart. You’ll also find a full menu of cocktails, wine, and beer, too, in addition to soft drinks, tea, and coffee.
And now, onto the main event — the food!
Drinks
To kick things off, we grabbed the new Saratoga Cocktail for $21. This is made with Michter’s Single Barrel Rye Whiskey, Courvoisier VS Cognac, Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth, and The Bitter Truth Decanter Bitters.
This cocktail looks like it should pack a punch, but it is remarkably smooth. The Courvoisier leaves a balanced sweetness on the palate that tames the rye, so there’s no hint of a burn. There are lovely notes of citrus throughout. This is a perfect sipping cocktail.
Eats
Dinner service began with complimentary Parker House rolls, which were pretty standard. They were warm and fluffy, and were served with butter — what’s not to love?
Next, we ordered the Golden-fried Calamari with Shishito Peppers for $19. This dish is served with toasted sesame aïoli and sweet chili-lime sauce.
The calamari is incredibly light and perfectly fried, with just enough coating to make it super crunchy. The sesame-based sauce gives you a little taste of the ocean with pleasant sesame undertones, and the rings aren’t chewy at all. The scallions add a nice crunch and a touch of freshness. The peppers play a bit of roulette: only about one in ten is actually spicy. The one we got was sweet and perfectly cooked, with the fresh crunch you want when you bite into a pepper. This is a delicious starter, and we would order it again. Be aware that if you’re not a fan of tentacles, there are some on the plate, but not so many that you can’t avoid them, especially if you have a more adventurous dining partner.
For our main entree, we ordered the Corn Flake-breaded Fried Chicken and Waffle, which was $29. This comes with roasted jalapeño maple syrup and candied bacon butter.
The chicken is perfectly pounded flat and breaded, juicy and tender, and it soaks up the jalapeño syrup beautifully. The waffle is a classic buttermilk, cooked to perfection. Together they hit the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and a little smoky from the jalapeño syrup. The smokiness balances the sweetness of the real maple syrup, and the jalapeños are roasted over an open fire, which makes for complex but familiar bites. The butter is quite sweet on its own, but paired with the chicken, waffle, and jalapeño syrup, it makes the perfect sweet, salty, crunchy, savory bite. Be warned: this dish is absolutely gargantuan. It can easily be split between two people. The waffle already comes cut into two pieces, so all you have to do is slice the chicken in half and you have two perfect entrées.
Finally, for dessert, we ordered the Chocolate-Hazelnut Cake for $12. This features a hazelnut mousse and berry sauce, and it was definitely a hit!
This might be one of the best chocolate desserts we’ve had in a long time. The hazelnut flour adds so much hazelnut flavor without adding any denseness, and the chocolate layers in between are super creamy and delicious and blend beautifully with the hazelnut. The first few bites are enrobed in a crunchy chocolate and hazelnut coating that reminds us of Magic Shell on our childhood ice cream, but elevated to an adult palate because the chocolate is so well tempered and crunchy. Then you get the wonderful flavor of the chocolate hazelnut cake and the layers of chocolate mousse.
Then, when you swipe your fork through the raspberry sauce at the bottom of the plate, it combines to make a perfect bite of the dessert. The acidity of the raspberry comes through, and you can really taste it alongside the chocolate and hazelnut, creating an almost truffle-like flavor that we absolutely adore.
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You want a “hidden gem steakhouse” moment that feels like you escaped the parks without actually leaving Disney World.
This spot sits at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and leans into a rustic racetrack clubhouse theme with golf course and lake views, which is basically Disney’s way of saying: “Yes, you may pretend you’re casually wealthy for 90 minutes.” - You’re planning a date night, an adults-only dinner, or a “we need quiet and protein” meal after a long day.
It’s open for dinner, and the vibe is relaxed and comfortable, not stuffy-white-tablecloth, but still nicer than quick service. TouringPlans even notes the dress code is casual enough that your park-day outfit is fine, which is a big win for anyone who doesn’t want to do a full wardrobe change in their hotel room like it’s a Broadway intermission. - You like classic American fare with some “Disney’s actually trying” touches.
The current menu includes things like French onion soup, Brussels sprouts, calamari, and steakhouse-leaning mains (plus the occasional fun curveball like tempura-fried mushrooms). - You want a table-service reservation that’s often easier to snag than the headline-grabbers.
Reservations are usually available last minute, which makes this a great “Plan B that feels like Plan A” pick.
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You’re trying to keep costs low.
This is table service, and while it’s not “sell a kidney” dining, it’s still a sit-down steak-and-seafood-leaning menu. The menu pegs appetizers around $9–$22 and entrées roughly in the $23–$36 range, with a three-course meal often landing around $50–$55 before drinks and gratuity. - You’ve got little kids who need loud energy, fast turnaround, and a menu that’s basically beige on purpose.
This is calmer, slower, and more “sit and enjoy” than “inhale food, sprint to the next thing.” Great for adults, not always the easiest for tiny tornadoes. - You’re staying in a far-flung Saratoga section, and you’re in “I refuse to travel” mode.
This one’s in the Carriage House area, so depending on where your room is, dinner can involve a little extra commuting. Not a dealbreaker, just something your feet will have thoughts about.
Overall
From the first sip to the last bite, this meal was a standout. The chicken and waffle was the star of the savory courses: a sweet, salty, smoky combination that was complex yet familiar, and so generously portioned that it easily feeds two. The chocolate hazelnut dessert closed the evening on a high note, with layers of texture and flavor that were rich without being heavy. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and stood out.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
